Veriq
Privacy Policy · Last updated: July 29, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Veriq (the “App”) handles your
information. Veriq is a QR code reader that checks where a link goes before you open it.
It is built so that what you scan stays on your device.
The QR codes you scan never leave your phone, with a single exception
that you trigger yourself and that is described in section 3.
2. What data is processed
-
Camera. The camera is used only to read QR codes. The image is
processed on your device in real time. It is never stored and never
sent anywhere. -
Scanned content. The result of each scan (URL, text, Wi-Fi details,
contact card and so on) is saved only on your device, in local
storage, so you have a history. You can delete it at any time. -
No personal data is collected. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no
analytics and no tracking identifiers of our own.
3. Link expansion — the only network connection
When you scan a URL, the App does not open it automatically. It analyses
the link on your device and shows you security warnings.
Only if you explicitly tap “expand link” does the App make a network
request to the link shortener’s own server (for example bit.ly) to find out the real
destination. In that case, and only in that case, the shortened URL is sent to that
third-party service. This is the only network connection the App makes, and it always
requires your confirmation.
4. Opening links
If you choose to open a link, it opens in your device’s browser. From that point on, the
privacy policy of that website and of your browser apply, and they are outside our
control.
5. Security warnings are not a guarantee
Veriq flags patterns that are commonly associated with malicious links, such as raw IP
addresses, look-alike domains, unencrypted connections or direct downloads of executable
files. These checks are heuristic: they can miss a harmful link and they
can flag a harmless one. Veriq gives you information to decide with — it does not promise
protection.
6. Third parties and advertising
No data is shared or sold. The App contains no analytics and no advertising
SDKs. If advertising is ever added, this policy will be updated to name the
provider and the data it collects.
7. Permissions
- Camera — required to scan. Without it the App cannot work.
-
The App does not request location, contacts, external storage or any
other sensitive permission.
8. Retention and deletion
Your scan history is kept on your device until you delete it, either entry by entry or by
clearing the whole history from the App. Uninstalling the App removes it as well. Since
nothing is stored on our side, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
9. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from
them.
10. Changes to this policy
Any change will be published on this same page, with an updated date at the top.
